Sue Thomas Selected as President of Truman State University

The Board of Governors of Truman State University announced Susan L. Thomas as the 17th president of Truman today in an email sent to students and faculty.

Thomas accepted the invitation to serve as Truman’s next president after a unanimous vote according to the email.

Chair of the Board of Governers Mike LaBeth says Thomas’s qualifications and experiences made her a prime candidate for the position.

“She is a strong strategic leader, cares deeply about our students and the welfare of the institution, and she will do everything in her power to forward the mission and promise of a public liberal arts and sciences university in the 21st century,” LaBeth says “In addition, she is the best candidate to manage the changes and evolution needed as Truman seeks to provide a world-class liberal arts and sciences education…”

Thomas served as Truman’s executive vice president for academic affairs since July 2014 and was made interim president on July 1, 2014.
