Truman Student Killed in Car Accident

A car accident on U.S. Route 63 in Kirksville killed three people, including a Truman State University student, on Monday.

First-year student Rachel Morris was killed in the accident, according to an email to the student body from Vice President of Student Affairs Lou Ann Gilchrist. Morris, a resident of Queen City, Missouri, was a nursing major and a member of the women’s track team.

The accident happened on U.S. Highway 63 about one-quarter mile north of the intersection of U.S. Route 63 and Illinois Street, according to a statement from the City of Kirksville. Two other people were killed in the two-vehicle accident in addition to Morris, according to the statement.
