Swimmers made final waves at NCAA meet

Truman State University’s men’s and women’s swimming teams took 22nd and 25th place, respectively, in the NCAA Div. II Swimming Championships from March 14-17.

Junior Sam Heveroh represented all of the men’s swimming team by breaking the school record in the 100-yard freestyle twice, both in the preliminary and final rounds. Heveroh already held the honor with a 44.67-second time on the record books, but then he shaved 0.28 seconds off of his own record in the NCAA preliminary rounds.

Seniors Jamie Fitzpatrick and Nikki Sisson completed their Bulldog careers by finishing in 23rd and 25th place, respectively, in the 100-yard freestyle. Freshman Natalie Galluzzo, by comparison, completed the first year of her Bulldog career by finishing 10th in the 200-yard breaststroke.

The nationals meet in Greensboro, North Carolina, concludes the 2017-2018 season for the Bulldogs. The ’Dogs will start swimming again next fall.
