What in the World is Happening in Gaza

Sarah Muir The conflict in Gaza, Palestine might seem like a far-removed issue, but its impact on US politics could affect everyday citizens. If you haven’t been keeping up, here’s what you need to know about the situation. Where this is happening The Gaza Strip is a tiny slice of Palestinian territory governed by Hamas, according to aJuly 17 Vox article. It borders Israel, the Mediterranean Sea and a small part of Egypt. Who’s fighting Hamas, the organization governing the Gaza Strip, and Israel. Hamas is a political organization with a very active militant wing that doesn’t recognize the state of Israel, and as a result Israel blockades the Gaza Strip, according to the Vox article. Needless to say, there is constant tension throughout the region.
