It seems that every release on the Sub Pop label oozes with goodness, and Mogwai’s newest release is no exception. This album is a companion release with Mogwai’s Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will record. Every track is a remix from a variety of diverse artists emerging in the electronic and experimental worlds of music.
The sounds on the record all blend together seamlessly to create one sonic experience that is electronic but maintains a catchy pop element.

This album is amazing and I’m glad that you’re giving it a shout-out, but you are incorrect in saying that, “Every track is a remix from a variety of diverse artists emerging in the electronic and experimental worlds of music,” because, quite frankly, a lot of the artists and bands doing these remixes are veterans that are very well-established. Justin K. Broadrick was in Napalm Death, Godflesh, and is now in Jesu. He has been playing in massively influential bands for over 3 decades. Zombi have been doing their thing and getting good reviews for almost a decade. Tim Hecker is probably the most famous ambient artist working right now except for Brian Eno and he has been making music for over a decade.
Of course there are some up and coming artists on this album that I look forward to checking out in the future, but a large part of this album’s appeal is getting to hear influential artists remix one of the most influential bands ever.
I guess this is just nitpicking, though. I am beyond stoked that this is in rotation. Smart pick. Keep it up!
