Director of Public Safety Sara Seifert sent an email to students this evening alerting them of an attempted burglary.

The attempted burglary occurred on the Truman State University campus at the Randolph Apartments at 10:10 p.m. Aug. 14.

The suspect knocked on the door of an apartment, asked the resident if they had seen his phone and proceeded to try and enter the apartment to get a phone he thought was his, Seifert wrote in the email to students. The resident of the apartment shut the door on the suspect and locked him out.

Seifert wrote in the email that the suspect in the case was described as a white male, approximately 5’ 6”, around 150 pounds, had a bald head and shaved face and was wearing a black shirt and cargo shorts.

“Since this incident was reported, the male suspect has been identified as Justin Evans who sometimes goes by the alias Christopher Evans,” Seifert wrote.

The Truman Police Department is currently investigating this case. Anyone who has any information is urged to contact Truman PD at (660) 665-5621.
