Women’s basketball knocked out in final two minutes

The Truman State University women’s basketball team lost 54-48 to Rockhurst University with an explosive fourth quarter.

The Bulldogs’ loss is the latest in a six-game losing streak that started on Jan. 15, just before spring 2018 classes started for the Bulldogs. Truman and Rockhurst both left the Saturday match with 5-7 records and tied for seventh in the GLVC.

The game started with a slow burn — the ‘Dogs had the lead 29-23 after three quarters of gameplay. Then the Hawks took the lead with 1:57 left on the clock and scored 10 more points to secure their victory.

Redshirt junior guard Brooke Bailey led the Bulldogs in points for the second game in a row, totaling 14 points for the evening. The next highest scorer was freshman center Katie Jaseckas with 6 points.

The Bulldogs head out for their final road trip of the season to play William Jewell College at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8.
