Students protest outside Catholic Newman Center

Truman community members gathered outside the Catholic Newman Center yesterday afternoon to protest a recent petition shared by a student in a GroupMe for Catholic Newman Center students to stop the Student Government resolution for a LGBTQ+ Resource Center on campus. The Director of the Catholic Newman Center, Chris Korte said, “I do apologize for the hurt that it has caused. I apologize for not being able to respond as quickly, as it would [have been] helpful. I just want you to know I am trying, I am listening.” The students called for the Catholic Newman Center to publicly apologize for the student’s actions and promote the petition calling for the LGBTQ+ Resource Center on campus.
