Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders take the Adair County Primary, with Trump coming ahead of Ted Cruz by less than 7 percent, and Sanders winning by a comfortable margin of 18 percent over Hillary Clinton. On the Republican ballot, John Kasich and Marco Rubio finished with a meager 14 percent and 9 percent, respectively.
Of the 14,207 total eligible voters in Adair County, 5,449 votes were cast, putting the residents of Adair County at a 38.35 percent voter turnout rate. This is a significant increase from the voter turnout in 2008, the last time both parties held contested primaries. Eight years ago, 15,313 total eligible voters in Adair County, 989 ballots were cast, making a 29.61 percent voter turnout rate.
