The Truman State University softball team split their Monday doubleheader against Missouri University of Science and Technology.
The Bulldogs have maintained an even GLVC record so far this season, and that didn’t change after their Missouri S&T games left them with a 4-4 GLVC record. The ’Dogs also have a 13-9 overall record.
Though the Miners scored the first run of the first game, that would prove to be their last as the Bulldogs won 9-1 by mercy rule after six innings. Junior pitcher Lauren Dale threw a complete game, averaging 3.3 pitches per batter, and earned her third win in a row.
Luck turned against the ’Dogs in the second game, however, as the Miners took advantage of early scoring opportunities to win the second game 9-7. Despite the loss, junior outfielder Christa Reisinger had a successful showing at the plate, using two of three at-bats on a homerun and a triple.
The Bulldogs will travel to play University of Missouri-St. Louis in a doubleheader starting at noon Friday.
