Truman State University’s men’s basketball team lost 85-76 Saturday evening to University of Southern Indiana after scoring 50 points in the second half.
The Bulldogs fell two rankings to fourth place in the GLVC following the loss. The Screaming Eagles takes third place and remains undefeated by any Truman team in program history.
Truman was ahead 43-35 after the first half and led Southern Indiana by as much as 13 points later in the second. After that, however, the Screaming Eagles went on a 32-5 run to take their own 14-point lead and go on to win the game.
Redshirt senior guard Zach Fischer earned his 12th double-double of the year, the most by a Bulldog since 1998, with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Junior guard Jake Velky is inching ever closer to his own record — after scoring 12 points against the Screaming Eagles, Velky is now 10 points shy of becoming the 29th member of Truman’s 1,000-point club.
The Bulldogs will next travel to St. Louis to play Maryville University at 7:30 p.m. Thursday night.
