Super Smash Bros Ultimate Tournament Sept. 28 October 11, 2024 Mark Fisher Campus, Sports Students focus on their game. “This is the largest tournament we’ve ever run,” Becher said. “Around 80 odd people from all over Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, and Iowa [were invited] to participate.” Organizer Andy Bernatow and other students watch as the first match gets underway. “It was honestly surreal to see it all come together,” said Bernatow. “Having that many competitors show up and have fun with no complaints or inconveniences was amazing.” Many students play simultaneously. The round robin style tournament featured 16 pools of 5-6 people per pool. An onlooker watches a final smash on the main screen. The tournament was also streamed on the Truman Gaming League’s twitch page. Artists and Vendors sell their wares at the tournament. “Heely and ScottyMacon are prominent controller modders from St. Louis and Joplin, respectively, and Cult is a prominent artist and community figure from St. Louis. It was super cool to have them out,” said Bernatow. Event organizers Andy Bernatow and Truman Gaming League president Ethan Becher, announce the rules of the tournament.
