Truman State University’s women’s basketball team lost 79-63 to the University of Indianapolis Thursday night in a game with season bests for players on both teams.
The Bulldogs went into Thursday night’s game hoping to pick up a win after losing their five-game winning streak Monday night to Drury University. To do that, they needed to hold off Greyhound guard Martha Burse, the second highest scorer in the GLVC.
Truman managed to hold Burse to six points in the first half, but fellow Greyhound guard Sarah Costello scored a personal season high 13 points in 20 minutes. By the end of the game, Costello scored 17 points, single-handedly outscoring the entire Truman bench.
Only junior forward Rachel Edmundson scored double-digit points for the Bulldogs with 18 total points over 31 minutes on the court, both of which are personal season highs for Edmundson.
The Bulldogs now head south to Evansville, Indiana, to play the nationally-ranked University of Southern Indiana. The game will be 1 p.m. Saturday.
