Peaceful protest hosted in Kirksville June 2, 2020 Ryan Pivoney City, News A peaceful protest was organized at Rotary Park in Kirksville on Tuesday afternoon. The protest was in support of the Black Lives Matter movement and George Floyd, a black man killed by a police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The protest consisted of multiple speeches, singing and a moment of silence. Protesters then lined up along Baltimore Street to wave signs and spread awareness. Protesters were greeted with honks and waves from cars passing by. In total, the protest lasted over two hours. The death of George Floyd has sparked multiple protests around the country. Major protests have taken place in Minneapolis, New York and St. Louis. The line of protesters stretched from North New Street to East Illinois Street.
