The Truman State University women’s basketball team lost 72-46 to Drury University Thursday evening.
The Bulldogs have been swept by the Lady Panthers this regular season, and this game knocks the Bulldogs down to a losing 5-6 record, tying them for seventh in the GLVC. Drury is tied for first with a near-perfect 10-1 record.
Once the Lady Panthers outscored the ‘Dogs in the first quarter 22-4, the ‘Dogs couldn’t recover. Truman finally caught up to Drury in the fourth quarter when both teams scored 12 points each, but the damage had been done.
Redshirt junior guard Brooke Bailey led the Bulldogs in points with 13 total points off the bench. She and redshirt junior guard Rachel Steinhoff were the only ‘Dogs to score points in the first quarter.
The women will return to the Pershing Arena for their first home game since Jan. 15, also against Drury, as they host Rockhurst University at 1 p.m. Saturday.
