Missouri Hall Director Zac Burden will be promoted to the coordinator for Residence Life — student life and development. The promotion was announced Sept. 19 in an email to Missouri Hall residents.
Burden will officially begin the new position on Oct. 14. Within two weeks of him taking on the position, a new hire will be taking over as MO Hall Director.
“Through this role, I can lead in the hiring and training of our team at all levels and buildings, support efforts to further the student experience on campus at Truman and to assist the department as we work through current staffing challenges,” Burden said in an email statement.
Residence Life Director Jamie Van Boxel said the promotion was based on Burden’s many years of experience at Truman.
”I am beyond excited to have been able to be a part of promoting him to the coordinator of residence life position for student life and development,” Van Boxel said.
Van Boxel said he is excited to take somebody with experience and move them into a coordinator level position to mentor the next level of hall directors.
The University is now looking to hire three hall directors. University is looking to have a total of five hall directors this year: one for Ryle and the apartments, one for Blanton-Nason-Brewer Hall, one for Missouri Hall, one for Centennial Hall and one for West Campus Suites.
“We are currently hiring hall directors across campus, one contracted and another announcement went out today for another hall director,” Van Boxel said. “I have verbal commitments for two others and I am waiting on final contracts before I make a formal announcement. I have two candidates scheduled to come on campus next week to interview for the fourth vacancy, which was created by Zac’s promotion.”
Van Boxel said he hopes that the campus community will join him in congratulating Burden as he moves into a new role.
