From the Desk of the Editor: The Index is still here

As I’m sure you’re aware, Truman State University has closed its campus and canceled face-to-face classes for the rest of the spring semester. With this sweeping change comes a lot of questions regarding how the University will operate and what comes next. While these are anxious times, I can certainly tell you that The Index and Truman Media Network will not stop reporting and producing the content you are looking for. The Index staff will continue working hard to answer your questions and provide some clarity about COVID-19’s impact on Truman.

The Index will no longer publish a physical print edition of the newspaper for the remainder of the spring semester, but we will instead focus on online content and multimedia storytelling. This is a temporary measure to best deliver community news. Our staff is self-quarantined and working remotely, but that doesn’t mean our reporting stops. An online focus provides the opportunity to report information and stories in a faster manner and be more flexible with updates. As soon as information is released, you can be assured we will have coverage available on the website as soon as possible.

News media is an important institution for our community now more than ever. I would like our readers to keep in mind that it’s not just a physical paper we provide that’s important, it’s the information. We will keep the website and social media updated and work to keep the community well informed because these stories are important.

As always, if you have questions, story tips or concerns, feel free to contact Index staff via the tmn.truman.edu website or myself at rap6375@truman.edu.
