Student Government reflects on day at Capitol

This piece was written Tuesday, February 20, 2018.
Today Student Government, among others, traveled to the Capitol in Jefferson City to visit our state’s senators and representatives. When we first arrived, we were greeted by President Thomas and Heidi Templeton. From there representatives and senators who are Truman alumni spoke with us and took pictures. After that we were introduced to the House and along the way we even saw some of our very own Truman students who are interns this semester. Following that we handed out information to representatives and senators that showed Truman’s strengths as a university. We expressed concern over the proposed budget and funding for higher education. I personally believe that we made an impact at the Capitol. Several senators and representatives were very receptive and shared their opinions on the matter with us. Overall the event was a huge success.
