Updated: BOG announces interim president

As of April 9 at 2:15: The Truman State Board of Governors announced today that Dr. Susan L. Thomas will serve as the interim president. Thomas currently serves as Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.

Thomas was appointed to the position of Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs on July 21, 2014. She holds a Ph.D. in social psychology and two masters in administrative management and social psychology.

The announcement was made this afternoon at the Board of Governors meeting and foundation banquet.

Update as of April 11 at 11:30 am: The Board of Governors has announced via email to the campus community that Richard Coughlin, Dean of Libraries and Museums, will be assuming the role of Interim Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost in light of Thomas’ absence from the position.

In addition, the Board of Governors announced it will be partnering with the firm Academic Search to locate a new president for Truman State. Dr. Jessica Kozloff, President of Academic Search, will serve as the lead consultant to find a permanent replacement for current President Troy Paino, whose duties end on July 1.

Paino announced his resignation from Truman State on Feb. 15 to accept a position as the 10th president of the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
