DPS alerts of motor vehicle theft

Director of Public Safety Sara Seifert sent an email to students Thursday evening alerting them of a motor vehicle theft from the east parking lot of the Ophelia Parrish Building.

A 2003 dark gray Jeep Cherokee with Missouri License plate NC8P5L was stolen from the parking lot sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Nov. 7. The car has a red Truman State University parking sticker on the driver’s side rear window with the number 2868 on it.

The Department of Public Safety is actively investigating this incident. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact DPS at (660) 665-5621.

This is the second motor vehicle theft reported on campus this semester. The last motor vehicle theft was reported Oct. 24.

“Motor vehicle thefts are not common at Truman, however, they do happen from time to time,” Seifert wrote in an email statement to The Index after the Oct. 24 incident.

This marks the fourth motor vehicle theft at Truman since Seifert joined DPS seven years ago, she said.
