Men’s basketball loses even match to Drury

The Truman State University men’s basketball team lost 88-71 to Drury University Thursday night.

The Bulldogs and the Panthers went into the game with same GLVC record, and the two teams played consistently against each other throughout the game — the Panthers took the first half 45-38 and the second 43-33. Despite the even match, the Bulldogs lost and are now fifth in the GLVC, while the victorious Panthers take third place.

Junior guard Jake Velky held onto the momentum from his winning buzzer-beating three-pointer from Sunday night as he led the ‘Dogs with 20 points for the game. Velky was closely followed by freshman guard Brodric Thomas with 18 points.

Truman will host Rockhurst University at 3 p.m. Saturday in Pershing Arena, their first home game since their previous match against Drury on Jan. 15.
