So much wine to try, so little time. It would be difficult for anyone to drive around to all the wineries here in Missouri. There is a way, however, to get your wine fix— try out the Great Northwest Missouri Wine Trail. While writing about the Ladoga Ridge Winery, I discovered this trail. I was amazed to learn there was a wine trail in the area that I didn’t know about! The trail includes the following wineries:

  • Belvior Winery in Liberty, MO
  • Fence Stile Winery in Excelsior Springs, MO
  • Jowler Creek Winery in Platte City, MO
  • Ladoga Ridge Winery in Smithville, MO
  • Pirtle Winery in Weston, MO
  • Riverwood Winery in Rushville, MO
  • Van Till Winery in Rayville, MO
  • Windy Wine Winery in Osborn, MO

This is a perfect destination trip for someone who lives in or near the Kansas City Region or is visiting KC.

According to the University of Missouri’s article about The Great Northwest Missouri Wine Trail, Missouri comes up in the 8th spot for the largest wine producing state. Many people enjoy this trail not only because of their tastings, but because of the scenery. The area is comforting and pleasant. From small towns to backyard feels, the trail offers a style that promotes relaxation and familiarity with its customers.

You may be wondering how to pair such Missouri wines that you will try on this trail. I myself love cheese, so I found this chart very helpful. Here is a chart on how to get the best tasting combinations.

The owners of each of the wineries have been working together to help promote the business, and bring in more customers.
